Borgial, Untitled III, 2026
Borgial (born in 1994 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo) is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Paris. His practice, situated at the crossroads of performance, video and sculpture, explores the notions of cultural syncretism and the transmission of memories.
At the heart of his work, the body acts as a space of transformation and receptivity, traversed by narratives, forces and imaginaries. Through performances conceived as contemporary rituals, he constructs a personal mythology drawing on Kongo culture, ancestral traditions and the history of Western art.
His works incorporate artefacts, often made of wood or textile, conceived as relics that carry ever-evolving narratives. Echoing these actions, video and installation extend and transform these experiences, opening up new avenues of interpretation.
Shaped by his history of migration, his practice explores cultural circulations and forms of embodied memory, in a dialogue between personal experience and collective significance.
