“Contemporary art as we know it today — to analyse it, read it, follow it — reflects an expanded field of research that can no longer be compared to the canon we once had to study, often centred on the West and restrictive in terms of critical approach. Research activity, curatorial work, and the act of promoting artistic practices all require groundwork. We must always discover and understand. We are confronted with such a variety of content that study and constant learning are, in my view, essential.

In this continuous learning process, we realise that questioning the validity of established discourses is more than necessary — that there is no longer a single canon. In short, we must broaden the foundations of our research in order to build the tools needed to read, understand, and include the spectrum of contemporary artistic practices today.”

The ten-episode podcast programme was made possible thanks to the generous support of Pro Helvetia and the Swiss Foundation for Radio and Culture (FSRC), in collaboration with Radio 40 and researcher and art historian Noémi Michel.
